In Port Charlotte the canal type decides whether your boat can reach Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of America. I check the bridge and the culvert for the specific street before you write an offer.
- Saltwater sailboat canals have no bridges between the dock, Charlotte Harbor, and the Gulf of America.
- Saltwater powerboat canals have 10-foot fixed bridges, including the Edgewater Drive Bridge at 10 feet. Measure the boat with the T-top, radar arch, and outriggers up.
- Freshwater canals end at an underground culvert under Tamiami Trail (US-41). Water passes through. Boats do not, so there is no harbor access by boat.
